Abbey Choir recordings available to stream for the first time

For the first time, audiences from around the world can enjoy the Abbey Choir’s critically acclaimed catalogue of recordings via streaming services.

The releases, on the Hyperion label, have previously been available as CDs and downloads, but are now being published on the Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music platforms.

Four albums are online now, with the Choir’s full catalogue of more than twenty recordings with the label due to be published by the end of November. Among those already available is their latest release, published in June, of works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Sir John Tavener and Sir James MacMillan. This was their last recording with former Organist and Master of the Choristers, James O'Donnell, before he was succeeded by Andrew Nethsingha earlier this year.

The Choir’s partnership with Hyperion dates back to 2005. It has seen them record music for royal occasions and the great feasts of the church year, as well as repertoire ranging from Renaissance masterpieces to contemporary classics - many of which have strong musical and historic ties to the Abbey.
