Adrian Udal
Secretary of the Belfry
Adrian was appointed as Secretary of the Belfry at Eastertide in 2021. He liaises with clergy and staff when bellringing is required, which includes many special services for Church, State and Parliamentary occasions. Adrian organises a band of ringers from the St Margaret’s Society of Change Ringers for each of these events, which number up to forty a year.
When he was first working in West London, Adrian learnt to ring at Chelsea Old Church and All Saints’ Fulham, and joined the St Margaret’s Society shortly afterwards. He developed his ringing skills with the talented local band here. He enjoys ringing for the special services and on Parliamentary occasions, and additionally has “rung in” the New Year almost every New Year’s Eve since late last century. He is also currently a member of the bands at St James Garlickhythe and St Giles-in-the-Fields.
Outside ringing he is actively involved in a City Livery Company, undertakes sound recordings, and has an interest in antique clocks. He is married to Helen, who is Tower Captain at St Gabriel’s Pimlico.
