Lady Susanna Williams

Lady Susanna Williams was buried in the Abbey "near Sir Edward Spragge" on 26th September 1689. This was most probably in the north ambulatory but neither have markers or monuments.

She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Skipwith by his first wife Elizabeth (Latham) and was said to be a favourite of the Duke of York. Sir Thomas married his second wife Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Rea and widow of Edward Maddison, in the Abbey on the same day as his daughter. He died in 1694 and was buried at Upminster with his first wife. Susanna was married in the Abbey on 30th April 1673 to Sir John Williams, son of Sir Edmund and his wife Mary, daughter of Sir John Beaumont. Her husband was baptized at St Andrew's Holborn in London on 11th September 1642 and was 2nd Baronet of Marnhull and succeeded to Minster Court, his uncle's estate, and died in 1680. Her daughters were Mary (wife of Charles Petty, Baron Shelburne) and Susanna (wife of Colonel Henry Cornewall).
