Womens' Voluntary Service roll of honour

In the nave of Westminster Abbey is displayed the Womens' Voluntary Service (WVS) roll of honour for those who died during the Second World War. It consists of 244 names and was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth (later The Queen Mother) on 20th November 1951.

The book was illuminated by Claire Evans between 1947 and 1949 and bound by Roger Powell. The names are given by region, with an illuminated map of the British Isles and coats of arms of the various regions shown at the front. A double page shows the various aspects of work carried out by the Service at the end of the book.
