A podcast for the Feast of Christ the King

David Fugurally, a member of the Westminster Abbey Institute Fellows’ programme and a civil servant in the Department for Education, reads from St Matthew’s gospel for a new episode of Abbeycast, the Abbey’s worship podcast series.
Today’s episode, to celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, was recorded this week on the Abbey’s magnificent Cosmati pavement in front of the High Altar.
The podcast is led by the Reverend Dr James Hawkey, Canon Theologian, with an address by the Reverend Mark Birch, Minor Canon and Precentor. David Fugurally reads Matthew 25: 31–46. The anthems, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s To thee, O Lord and Benjamin Britten’s Hymn of St Columba, were recorded earlier this week in the Abbey by the Abbey Choir, conducted by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers.
Episodes of Abbeycast are being released regularly during lockdown, and otherwise to mark Feast Days and special anniversaries. Those wanting to be kept up to date with new releases can subscribe.
During this lockdown period, the Abbey is closed for public worship, but you are welcome to visit for individual prayer at times indicated on the website.
