Christmas special for Abbey documentary series

Channel 5 is returning to the Abbey for a Christmas edition of its documentary series, Westminster Abbey: Behind Closed Doors.
The special hour-long programme will be shown at 7.00pm on Wednesday 21st December and follows a five-part series bringing viewers behind the scenes at the Abbey which was broadcast in the autumn.
The Christmas programme will follow the build-up to the busy festive season, as the Abbey prepares to welcome thousands of worshippers and visitors to a church which has been at the heart of our national life for more than a thousand years.
From the clergy who lead the celebrations of the Christmas story to the Abbey’s world-famous Choir and the dedicated teams of skilled staff who care for the historic buildings, viewers will meet some of the people who spend their Christmases at this extraordinary place.
How to watch
Following its broadcast on Channel 5, the programme will be available to watch on demand on My5, where the first five episodes in the series are also available.
