Coronation Club for children launched

Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort will be crowned in Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May.
Ahead of the service, the Abbey has launched an online Coronation Club with a series of videos to inspire children aged 7 - 11 to find out more about the historic service.
Designed to be used in schools, youth groups and at home with families, the episodes will bring viewers behind the scenes at the Abbey, where kings and queens have been crowned since 1066. Children will hear stories of coronations past, and discover what happens at a coronation service and why through games, challenges, crafts and quizzes. Each episode is also accompanied by an activity pack with resources to support the topics covered in the films.

Episode release dates
The first episode will be released on 30th March, with two further instalments following on 13th and 27th April.
Exploring at the Abbey and online
The Coronation Club is part of a programme of events exploring the coronation for young people which is being held both at the Abbey and online.
A series of family days, including a Queens of the Abbey event on Saturday 18th March, will include special tours, art and craft activities and storytelling sessions for children aged 3+ and their families.
Coronation-themed school visits and online sessions are running now; while a library of free online teaching resources to support both primary and secondary students includes lesson plans, assembly ideas and image banks.
Families, schools and community groups can also explore the Abbey’s centuries-long royal connections with a collection of free online activities.
