Join us for Christmas wherever you are
Wednesday, 9th December 2020
Westminster Abbey is delighted to invite everyone to begin their Christmas celebrations by sharing the wonder and splendour of Abbey worship as we livestream our Midnight Mass on 24th December at 11.00pm.
The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, who will be preaching at the service said:
At Christmas, God is with us. With us whether we are in company, or alone. With us in joyful celebration, with us in anxiety and loss. You would be welcome to be with us as we give heartfelt thanks, in the Abbey, that God is with us in all things, our confidence and our hope.
The service will be sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey, conducted by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers, and will include Victoria’s Mass and motet O magnum mysterium and Sheppard Verbum caro factum est.
A specially recorded service of Carols and Readings for Christmas with the Abbey Choir will also be released for people to enjoy at home on 22nd December at 6.00pm.
Worshippers can join live or catch up afterwards on the Abbey website. No tickets are required, and all services are free.
Evensong on Sunday 13th December at 3.00pm and the Sung Eucharist for the Epiphany on 6th January at 5.00pm will also be livestreamed.
Viewers worldwide will also be able to share in the unforgettable experience of an Abbey Christmas concert when the Abbey Choir performs in the Live From London – Christmas online festival. Tickets are priced from £12.50, and ticket holders can join live on Tuesday 15th December at 7.00 pm and/or on demand until Friday 15th January.
