The Countess of Wessex attends All Souls’ Day service
Monday, 2nd November 2020
HRH The Countess of Wessex attended Sung Eucharist for All Souls' Day in Westminster Abbey on Monday 2nd November.
The annual service was this year held in partnership with Loss and HOPE, a coalition of organisations helping churches of all denominations to support the bereaved. Prayers were said for those who have died and those who mourn, at a time when Covid-19 has dramatically increased the number of bereaved people across the UK.
During the service, The Countess of Wessex gave a reading from Romans 5: 5-11 and later lit a candle of remembrance in the Abbey's Sacrarium.
The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, preached the sermon.
Readings were given by Matthew Arnoldi CVO, the Abbey's Head of Protocol; and by the Reverend David Stanton, Canon in Residence.
The Reverend Canon Yvonne Richmond Tulloch, founder, At a Loss, led the intercessions.
