Westminster Abbey Marks Centenary of Lady Margaret School

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra attended a Service to Celebrate the Centenary of Lady Margaret School at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday 17th October 2017.

The service was conducted by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, who gave the Welcome and pronounced the Blessing.

Testimonies were read by Miriam Standring, Year 11 pupil, and Claire Lovell and Harriet James, alumnae.

Louise Alder, alumna, sang The Aria by George Frideric Handel, after John Milton.

Elisabeth Stevenson, Headteacher, read Psalm 16, and Janina Swierzewska, Head Girl, Year 13, read Romans 12: 9-21.

The Address was given by the Right Reverend and Right Honourable Richard Chartres KCVO ChStJ FSA, Dean of Her Majesty's Chapels Royal.

Prayers were led by the Reverend Mark Birch, Minor Canon and Sacrist, and said by: Ella Barnes, Head Girl, Year 13; the Dean; Eva Delaney, Year 10 pupil; the Reverend Penny Seabrook, Associate Vicar, All Saints Fulham, and School Governor; Charlotte Walton, Director of 6th Form; Melinda Shelbourne, Parent; and the Reverend David Stanton, Canon in Residence. The Reverend Caroline Newbold, Chaplain of Lady Margaret School, said the school prayer.

The service was sung by the combined choirs of Lady Margaret School, directed by Dr Christopher Parker. The organ was played by Matthew Jorysz, Assistant Organist.
