Westminster Abbey holds annual Civic Service

Matins, attended in Civic State by the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Lindsey Hall, and Councillors of the City of Westminster, was held at Westminster Abbey on Sunday 1st July.

The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, gave the Welcome and pronounced the Blessing.

The Address was given by the Lord Mayor's Chaplain, the Reverend Gary Bradley.

Councillor David Harvey, Deputy Leader, Westminster City Council, read Deuteronomy 15: 1 - 11, and the Lord Mayor read Acts 27: 33 - end.

Prayers were led by The Reverend Christopher Stoltz, Minor Canon and Precentor, and said by Genevieve Hall, Nathan Parsad, Katie Curtis, Ralu Oteh-Okezie, Laura Thompson, and the Reverend Professor Vernon White, Canon in Residence.

The service was sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey conducted by the Organist and Master of the Choristers, James O'Donnell. The organ was played by Peter Holder, Sub-Organist. Music before the service was played by Benjamin Cunningham, Organ Scholar.

A collection was taken for The Lord Mayor's charities: Young Minds and Place2Be.
