Martyrs of the Reformation

On 13th October 1977 Lady Fisher of Lambeth unveiled a memorial stone to Martyrs of the Reformation. This is just to the west of the tomb of Elizabeth I and her half sister Mary I in Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey. The stone was cut by David Kindersley and the inscription reads:

NEAR THE TOMB OF MARY AND ELIZABETH REMEMBER BEFORE GOD ALL THOSE WHO DIVIDED AT THE REFORMATION BY DIFFERENT CONVICTIONS LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR CHRIST AND CONSCIENCE' SAKE.

Over the west door of the Abbey the statues of 10 modern martyrs were unveiled in 1998.
