Community groups

Westminster Abbey is a wonderful place for groups under the age of 25 to explore big questions. We want to welcome all community groups, making visits free where we can and tailoring sessions to your interests.

Essential information

We believe that Westminster Abbey is a space for everyone.

The Abbey does not receive funding from Church, Government or Crown and as such we rely on visitor entry fees to fund our work.

If costs prohibit your group from visiting, please do get in touch with us to discuss a subsidised visit.

Standard tour costs:

Group members: £4 each

1 free group leader per 10 young people

Extra group leaders: £14 each

Find out more about our sessions and costs here.

The Abbey’s safeguarding policy can be found on our website here

The safety and security of all our visitors is of paramount importance to us. If you would like to see copies of our risk assessments, policies or request further information about security protocols, do contact us.

Westminster Abbey is an old building. The floor is uneven in some spaces and some areas have steps leading up to them.

We are always happy to adapt our sessions to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of visiting groups.

Please do contact us to discuss your group’s accessibility needs further.

Westminster Abbey is intricate and bold. There is so much to discover among the centuries of history and in the stories of the thousands of people connected to the building. The Abbey is a special place in our nation that many people, including young people, have heard of but may not feel welcome. Some barriers may be felt due to the age, size, faith or power linked with the building, but it is a space that belongs to all of us. The doors are open and we're ready to welcome you in and help your group uncover the Abbey that will inspire them.

Why not get in touch with Gemma and Ewen today to have a chat about your session?

Our Communities team often works with young people on longer-term projects, building relationships with community groups and organisations. Perhaps some of our previous projects and partnerships can serve as inspiration for our future together?

Volunteer at Westminster Abbey

We have a large team of volunteers in the Learning Department supporting our family and school visitors. Volunteers supervise art and craft activities, lead tours and assist with workshops. If you are over 18 and interested in volunteering with us, please get in touch.
