Sir Robert Arundell Hudson

The ashes of Sir Robert Arundell Hudson are buried in the west cloister of Westminster Abbey. He was a son of Robert Hudson of Lapworth in Warwickshire and his wife Jessie (Kynoch). He was assistant and later secretary of the National Liberal Federation. In 1889 he married Ada Hammerton and they had a daughter Dorothy. After the Liberal victory in 1906 he was knighted and during the Great War he worked for the Red Cross. His second wife was Mary, widow of Lord Northcliffe. He was a Trustee for the Abbey Appeal for funds for the restoration of the stonework, launched by Dean Ryle in 1920. In 1927 he resigned from politics and died in London. The grave inscription reads:
