William Thompson Elliott

The Reverend William Thompson Elliott was a Canon of Westminster from 1938-1940 and his ashes are buried in the vault in the lower Islip chapel in Westminster Abbey. A small stone reads:

W. THOMPSON ELLIOTT, Canon 1940

He was the son of the Reverend William Hayward Elliott, vicar of Bramhope in Leeds and was born on 15th November 1880. Educated at Carlisle and Oxford he was curate or vicar in various places in Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and Leicestershire, an Honorary Canon of Peterborough cathedral, Canon and Sub Dean of Liverpool cathedral and vicar of Leeds. He married Nora Walker and they had two sons and three daughters. He died on 20th June 1940.
